There will be no seventh podium this season for Nikita mazepin. At least not this Saturday. Third in the main race of the Sakhir Grand Prix this Saturday, Nikita Mazepin finally received two five-second penalties for forcing two opponents out of track limits.
First Yuki tsunoda, when braking on the first straight. Then leading the race with a few laps to go, the Russian took the Japanese completely out of bounds, in a defensive maneuver deemed dangerous by the track marshals. He was also penalized for a similar defense between turns 3 and 4 on Felipe Drugovich, who was forced to crash into the braking sign.
It is also the Brazilian Felipe Drugovich himself who benefits from this decision by the track marshals, and who regains a place on the podium. Nikita Mazepin falls to 9th place. Another consequence, Callum Ilott and Mick Schumacher each gain a position but still neutralize each other with 10 points each (Schumacher having achieved the best lap in the race).
In the championship, Nikita Mazepin lost a position and gave up his 4th place to Robert Shwartzman. Dan Ticktum will start on pole thanks to the reverse grid for Sunday's sprint race.
