F2 – ART Grand Prix confirms George Russell

A few hours after confirming the promotion of its pilot Jack Aitken from the GP3 Series to the FIA F2, ART Grand Prix proceeded in the same way with the British George Russell.

The resident of the lap Mercedes, titled in the GP3 Series in 2017, will move up a notch in 2018 by joining F2, as we told you last November.

ART Grand Prix thus ensures the presence of drivers well known to its management, enough to offer a certain stability before starting the season in a new championship for both drivers. « We had a very successful year last season and so it makes sense to continue working together and seek new successes, underlines Russell.

With the introduction of a new car in Formula 2, it will be difficult for all teams to optimize the set-up from the start of the season, but I have every confidence in ART Grand Prix to achieve this and be competitive as fast as possible.

I can’t wait to take part in the first race and battle against some of the best drivers and teams at the pinnacle of junior motorsport. » Russell had competed in Free Practice 1 with Force India in F1 in 2017 in Brazil and Abu Dhabi and was able to try F2 during end-of-season testing on the Yas Marina Circuit.
