F2 – C1: Alex Albon wins a crazy race

The race starts difficult for Lando Norris (Carlin) who remains stuck on the grid at the start of the formation lap, leaving second place empty on the grid between Alex Albon (DAMS) and George Russell (ART GP). The start saw Jack Aitken (ART GP) stall, forcing him to restart from the pits while Louis Delétraz (Charouz Racing) and Luca Ghiotto (Campos) did not make it past the first lap. After a first safety car, the restart went more calmly, without incident and without any change at the front of the race.

From the 6e lap, Russell attempts the undercut and passes Albon in the pits, the Thai also passing by Nyck de Vries (Prema). Spirits calm down for around ten laps before Roy Nissany (Campos), despite having had a very good race, hits the wall from his 5e place, involving the release of a new safety car.

The restart was fatal for De Vries who missed the first corner and blocked Russell against the Tecpro, leaving the race lead to Antonio Fuoco (Charouz Racing). While in full recovery from 16th place on the grid, Artem Markelov (Russian Time) saw his hopes dashed by an engine failure a few laps from the finish. In the last loops, Fuoco saw his lead disappear before being passed by Albon then by Aitken who had started almost a lap behind at the start.

Alex Albon wins his first race F2 ahead of Jack Aitken who got on his first podium and Antonio Fuoco who gave Charouz his first top 3 in F2. Sergio Sette Câmara (Carlin) finishes 4e before Nicholas latifi (DAMS), started last on the grid. Lando Norris goes up to 6e place and ahead of the MP Motorsport of Ralph Boschung and Roberto Merhi who took the reverse pole. Tadasuke Makino (Russian Time), also victim of a stall on the grid, finished 9e and Sean Gelael (Prema) completes the top 10.
