F2 – Lando Norris and Sérgio Sette Câmara with Carlin in 2018

Carlin will be closely monitored next year for his return to F2, after having experienced the GP2 Series era. The British structure will indeed line up a shock duo in 2018 with the confirmations this Sunday of the English Lando Norris, FIA European champion F3 in title with Carlin, and recent second in Macau, and the Brazilian Sérgio Sette Câmara, fielded by MP Motorsport in F2 in 2017.

The latter was in contention to win the Macau Grand Prix, before his epic duel with Ferdinand Habsburg, and an exit from the track for the two rivals in the last corner.

« I'm delighted to be able to announce a fantastic pair of drivers for our return to the paddock F1, explains Trevor Carlin, team manager. With Lando and Sergio, we have one of the most exciting young duos.

We are extremely proud to be able to continue our relationship with Lando for the fourth consecutive year. It is extremely rewarding to continue working with a driver in the FIA pyramid.

It will be a great advantage to have the experience season of Sergio at this level with Pirelli tires and we know, having worked with him before, his speed and his potential. The whole team is very excited about the work and the challenges ahead. »

« Trevor runs a large organization with Carlin and I feel like I'm part of the "family", underlines Norris, who will also be reserve pilot McLaren in 2018.

It's a friendly environment and one in which I feel very comfortable. There will be a definite learning curve next year to get used to the increased power, Pirelli tires and mandatory pit stops but I feel like I'm in the best possible environment to familiarize myself with all these elements. »

With his one-year experience in the discipline, Câmara hopes to be able to play the leading roles and expects real emulation with his future teammate whose performances he admires. The Brazilian also plans to return to success in FIA F2, as was the case at Spa in Belgium this season.

« Having a teammate as strong as Lando, who is highly regarded, is really motivating, admits the Brazilian, who has passed through the fold Red Bull Junior. We are pushing ourselves to the limit to be better drivers and to allow Carlin to get the results they deserve as a team. »
