F2 – Norris leader of the first day at Castellet

The first session started in light rain which forced the drivers to first put on wet track tires before opting for intermediate compounds. In these conditions, Lando Norris (Carlin) was the fastest with a best time of 1'56''707. He is ahead of Ralph Boschung (MP Motorsport) by almost a second and Sergio Sette Câmara (Carlin). The best rookie of the morning is Arjun Maini on the Trident.

The second session took place in better conditions, the track being warmed by the sun. This did not prevent Norris from retaining his leading position with a mark established in 1'43''095 in a session faster than the previous one for all drivers. Dutch Nyck de Vries (Prema Racing) slots between the two Carlins for the top 3 while George Russell (ART GP) is the best rookie in 5e position.

Although the day was not interrupted by any incident on the track, some teams were penalized by technical damage, notably on the side of Jack Aitken (ART GP) and Alex Albon (DAMS) whose engines failed in the morning. Conversely, Arjun Maini (Trident) is the driver who has accumulated the most mileage with 66 laps covered.
