F2 – Nyck de Vries takes his first victory in Monaco

Nyck de Vries won his first victory in F2 by winning the Sprint Race in Monaco. The 2014 Eurocup Formula champion Renault 2.0 took the advantage over his teammate Johnny Cecotto Jr who started from pole at the start and quickly widened the gap on the rest of the peloton. The Dutchman finally won with around ten seconds ahead of the Venezuelan.

Gustav Malja (Racing Engineering) completed the podium by maintaining the pressure during the 30 laps of the race on Johnny Cecotto Jr and also resisting the attacks of Luca Ghiotto (Russian Time) who finished ahead of Artem Makelov (Russian Time).

Alex Albon (ART Grand Prix) finished in 6th place ahead of his teammate Nobuharu Matsushita. Jordan King (MP Motorsport) took 8th place against Oliver Rowland (Dams), the winner of the Main Race, by overtaking the Briton at the Rascasse.

The 2015 Formula Renault 3.5 Series champion was also hit by Sergio Canamasas (Trident) at the same location, the Spaniard destroying his front wing in the process, but was able to maintain his position by ultimately overtaking Antonio Fuoco (Prema Racing).

Charles Leclerc (Prema Racing) made several overtakes but had to retire. The Championship leader notably collided with Norman Nato (Pertamina Arden) at La Rascasse, forcing the Frenchman to dismount, and received a 10s penalty for his maneuver.
