F2 – Seventh pole for Leclerc in the rain

The start of the session took place without rain but on a wet track, forcing the drivers to use wet tires. As the track dries, the times improve at the start of qualifying but it's Charles Leclerc (Prema Racing) which remains the fastest by improving each of the references by more than a second. The battle for pole is clearly between the Prema and the DAMS.

Contrary to usual, the drivers only stopped with 10 minutes to go to put on new tires while the majority of teams predicted more rain for the end.

During the last minutes, it started to rain again in turns 6 and 7 but a red flag caused by Sergio Sette Câmara (MP Motorsport) only allowed Nicholas latifi (DAMS) to improve in 2e instead.

All the drivers started again for 3'43 after the red flag as it started to rain again in the pitlane. While he improved, Oliver Rowland (DAMS) lost his car in the second sector.

Charles Leclerc (Prema Racing) signs its 7e pole position of the year in 2'20''842, 6 tenths faster than Nicholas Latifi (DAMS) who is ahead of his teammate Oliver Rowland. Gustav Malja (Racing Engineering) is relegated to more than a second from the Monegasque ahead of Antonio Fuoco (Prema Racing) and Nyck de Vries (Racing Engineering).

Luca Ghiotto (Russian Time) is 7e in front of the former pilot of F1 Roberto Mehri (Rapax). Artem Markelov (Russian Time) and Alex Albon (ART GP) complete the top 10. Norman Born (Arden) finishes 18e of a complicated session.
