Fabio Leimer at Rapax in 2011

2009 International Formula Master champion, Fabio Leimer played this year with the Ocean Racing Technology team in the GP2 Series. But the Swiss was unable to prove his full potential, his team having finished in last place in the Championship at the end of the 2010 season.

Nevertheless, his performances were noticed during the Abu Dhabi tests which followed after the last race of the season. Fabio Leimer had in fact achieved the best time at the end of the two days of testing at the wheel of a car from the Rapax team. He therefore now finds himself involved with the team which won the Drivers and Teams titles.

“I am happy and proud to have signed with Rapax for my second year in GP2. I am delighted that they have placed their trust in me,” commented Fabio Leimer on the GP2 Series website. “I know that the team is fully motivated to win back the Championship in 2011 and I will do everything I can to help them achieve this. »

For his part, Andrea Bergamini, director of Rapax, confides that he has been keeping an eye on Fabio Leimer for some time. “We are really happy to welcome Fabio to the team,” commented the team director. “We've been following him for a while, ever since he dominated the International Formula Master in 2009.”

“During the last tests in Abu Dhabi, he showcased his talent by setting extremely fast times,” added Andrea Bergamini. “He also had a very professional approach with the members of the technical team. This contract represents an important step for Rapax which will try to return to the top during the next season. »
