FE – Bird on pole, Vergne and Gasly in the top 4

​Sam Bird regained pole position for the second New York e-Prix ahead of Felix Rosenqvist. Jean-Eric Vergne and Pierre Gasly monopolize the second row.

More at ease for his second day, Pierre Gasly (Renault e.dams) created a surprise by dominating the first part of qualifying and qualifying for the Superpole. He is accompanied by Jean-Eric Vergne (Techeetah), third in the first part of the session.

At the end of the superpole, it is Sam bird (DS Virgin) which regained pole position in 1'02''285. He is ahead of Felix Rosenqvist (Mahindra) by 37 thousandths. The French had to settle for the second row, Vergne ahead of Gasly after a driver error Red Bull in his rapid turn. Nick Heidfeld (Mahindra) did not have a clear run in superpole either and was satisfied with a 5e instead.

The rest of the top 10 is made up of Maro Engel (Venturi), 5th and 4 thousandths ahead of Oliver Turvey. The Abt Schaefflers of Daniel Abt and Lucas Di Grassi are 8e and 9e. Tom dill man (Venturi) completes the top 10 in qualifying.

Stephane Sarrazin (Techeetah) qualified 12e et Nicolas Cheers (Renault e.dams) 15e. Loïc duval (Faraday Future Dragon Racing) had a problem with his fast lap and was only able to achieve 19e performance. These three drivers will still benefit from the ten-place penalty given to Robin Frijns (Andretti) who will start last.
