In recent weeks, four German manufacturers have confirmed their future involvement in the championship. Formula E : Audi reprenant Abt Schaeffler dès la saison 4, BMW qui solidifie son partenariat avec Andretti en saison 5, et enfin Porsche et Mercedes arriving in season 6 as constructors in their own right. This interest in the young electric championship delights the champion of season 2, Sébastien Buemi.
« This is beyond what Formula E could imagine, admits the Swiss. This is fantastic news. Mercedes and Porsche will be there in season 6 so we still have seasons 4 and 5 left, but I think there is no other championship in motorsport currently that has such a bright future.."
Present since the start of the championship in 2014 with Renault e.dams, Sébastien Buemi participated in the French team's three constructor titles and was crowned during season 2 and twice runner-up in season 1 and season 3 although he dominated the latter. The Swiss was renewed with the Driot team and Cheers to 2018.
« As a driver, and having been involved from the start, it's superb and it shows that, from a political point of view, all the manufacturers are moving in the same direction. Even two years ago, I wouldn't have believed it. Everyone should be happy because we have great cars, we are going to great places and there are great manufacturers joining us."
