Fe – Buemi brings a smile back to Renault e.dams

Renault e.dams returned to success in Punta del Este (Uruguay) with the second victory of the season Sébastien Buemi. Despite an accident in testing and a fifth place in qualifying, the former driver Toro Rosso made a good comeback to win ahead of Lucas di Grassi (ABT Audi Sport) from whom he regained first place in the Drivers' standings by one point.

“This result crowns everyone’s efforts. Winning is not just about a car or an engine: it is a collective effort. After the disappointment of Putrajaya, it’s a very nice reward”, comments the Swiss who encountered a mechanical problem last month in Malaysia and who was only able to take 12th place.

“This victory is very important for us. It demonstrates that the problems encountered in Malaysia have been resolved”, notes Jean-Paul Driot, the co-owner of Renault e.dams, who sees his team take the lead in the Teams' Championship, two points ahead of Abt Audi Sport. “This does not mean, however, that the work stops there. We will continue to develop our car with the ambition of winning other races. In the meantime, we can already go on Christmas vacation with this great performance. »

Nicolas Cheers had a slightly tougher race finishing in fifth place. ?I'm slightly disappointed with the final result because I think my pace was higher today than in the previous two rounds. One turn in particular seemed to give me trouble throughout the sessions and I didn't feel as comfortable as I would have liked. That said, we scored important points in the championship.
