FE – Gasly confirmed in place of Buemi

Due to the clash of dates between the WEC and Formula E, several drivers had to choose between the two disciplines. Still in the race for the title in both championships, Sébastien Buemi found himself in a delicate position and after “long and intense discussions”, the Swiss pilot will wear the colors of Toyota at the 6 Hours of the Nürburgring.

« I deeply regret this clash between the WEC and the FE which could have been avoided, declares the co-owner of the stable Alain Prost. Nevertheless, we must move forward and we are very happy to welcome Pierre Gasly. Racing in New York will be a challenge for him who is making his debut at the end of the championship. » 

It is therefore Pierre Gasly who will replace Sébastien Buemi and will make his debut in Formula E on the streets of New York, a week after his SuperFormula race in Fuji (Japan) which he finished in 5^e instead.

« This clash of dates is regrettable because the championship is particularly close contrary to appearances, adds Jean-Paul Driot, co-owner of the stable. I now want Pierre to score as many points as possible for Renault e.dams in New York and helps us retain our title during the last weekend in Montreal. »
