Fe – Nextev TCR retains Piquet Jr and Turvey

Oliver Turvey and Nelson Piquet Jr will continue to defend the interests of the Nextev TCR team in the third season of Formula e. The Briton and the Brazilian, respectively 14th and 15th in the Championship this year, are back behind the wheel this Tuesday August 23 by participating in the official tests in Donington (Great Britain) after having extended their contract for several years with the Chinese structure.

The first season champion and his teammate completed 14 days of private testing at the Calafat circuit (Spain) to focus on the development of the new NextEV 700R, accompanied by Ben Hanley.

“I think Nextev is set for a bright future with its long-term program in Formula e, commented Nelson Piquet Jr. I am happy to continue with the team with which I won the title. We will aim for victory again this season. We had a difficult last season, but we were able to learn a lot of things and we came out stronger. I am also happy to still have Oliver as a teammate with whom we are trying to achieve a successful team. »

“They gave me my first opportunity to ride in the discipline and I’m happy to continue with them, added the Briton who competed in his first race during the final of the first season in London. I learned a lot during my first season and gained more experience during summer testing while working on the new car. Nextev TCR must react since its best result last season was a sixth place acquired by Oliver Turvey during the first round in Beijing (China).

The grid for the third season of Formula e is almost complete. Only the Jaguar team has yet to announce Adam Carroll's teammate.
