If DS Virgin Racing preferred to take Jose Maria Lopez for the third season of Formula e, Jean-Éric Vergne will not remain without a steering wheel. As we announced to you in issue 2070 of AUTOhebdo, the test pilot of the Team Ferrari will operate within the new Techeetah team owned by Seca, a Chinese sports marketing company managed by Sheng Li.
« We think it's the future, it's that simple, commented the CEO of the Asian company to South China Morning Post. It normally takes a season for a driver to find his feet in Formula E, but we allowed Ma to compete in the last three races of the season. »
“We can't wait to be in Hong Kong (October 9, for the season opener) where the circuit should be incredible. I particularly like the fact that the discipline is contested on urban circuits and that the public is really involved (notably with Fanboost). It brings the race to the heart of the city and it will make a lot of noise.”, Sheng Li added.
“We were impressed by what we saw in London and what the sport has achieved in such a short time. The more manufacturers are involved, the more spectators are present. Motorsport has fallen into a pattern in recent times and Formula is taking a different approach”, concluded the CEO of Seca.
