The former BMW i Andretti driver has two ePrix successes (Buenos Aires in 2015 and Ad Diriyah in 2018) and finished the 2018-19 season in sixth place. “It’s exceptional to be able to join a team that has won two titles in a motorsport championship as competitive as Formula E,” he explains.
The decision to leave my position was very difficult to make but it was an opportunity that I simply could not refuse and I look forward to joining Jean-Eric and everyone. »
The main team of the reigning double world champion team, Mark Preston, sees in Antonio Félix Da Costa “a great and effective asset to the team”. Xavier Mestelan Pinon, Director of DS Performance, explains the qualities of the new recruit.
“His experience in this discipline and his speed will be decisive in our quest for victories and titles. While waiting for the first race in Riyadh (November 22 and 23), he will be able to carry out several test sessions with Jean-Éric and finalize the development of our DS E-Tense FE 20.”
As for Jean-Éric Vergne, he finds an old acquaintance; both participated in the Red Bull Junior Team program 2010 early years. “I wish Antonio a very warm welcome. We have been friends for a long time and previously participated in the same motorsport program. It’s great to be able to work together again. He will be a great asset to the team. »
