FIA F2 – Charles Leclerc on pole in Bahrain

For his first qualifying session in FIA F2, Charles Leclerc hit a big blow. The Prema Racing driver largely dominated his rivals on the Sakhir track in Bahrain, signing the best time in 1'38″907, and relegating his closest pursuer, his teammate Antonio Fuoco, to six tenths. The Italian will ultimately be penalized three places on the grid for having hampered Artem Markelov (Russian Time).

Nyck de Vries at the same time places the car Rapax in second position, after taking the advantage over the Frenchman Norman Nato (Arden), who hung behind the Prema duo for a long time during the session. Nato fails 31 thousandths behind De Vries.

Luca Ghiotto (Russian Time) follows in the standings of the session ahead of Nobuharu Matsushita, first ART Grand Prix representative, Artem Markelov (Russian Time), Oliver Rowland (DAMS) best time in free practice, Alex Albon (ART Grand Prix) and Sergio Sette Camara (MP Motorsport).

The session was marked by the clash between Nabil Jeffri (Trident) and Gustav Malja (Racing Engineering). The main race will take place tomorrow at 12:10 p.m.
