Formula E – Mahindra Racing with Senna and Chandhok

After Audi Sport Abt (with Lucas di Grassi and Daniel Abt) and Virgin Racing (with Jaime Alguersuari and Sam Bird), it is the turn of Mahindra Racing to unveil its crew for the inaugural season of Formula E which will begin on 12 and September 13 in Beijing. The Indian team has also chosen experienced drivers since it will be two former drivers of the HRT team who will defend its interests. Bruno Senna, former pilot Renault et Williams F1, will support Karun Chandhok who also has 11 Grand Prix starts. “These two drivers have a nice track record behind them and have enjoyed success in several disciplines in recent years. The entire team looks forward to working with them to optimize the performance of our car during the next months of testing which will precede the start of the season », comments SP Shukla, President of Mahindra Racing.

Bruno Senna will thus return to single-seaters after having notably turned towardsEndurance with Aston Martin. “Mahindra Racing is truly determined to be part of the leading teams”, assures the Brazilian. “It’s also interesting to join such a revolutionary Championship for its debut. We will have to learn a lot of things very quickly, whether in terms of technology for the team or driving style for the competitors. Spectators will also have to familiarize themselves with a new type of motorsport. I obviously already have a good relationship with Karun who will help move the team forward. »

After F1, the Indian also continued his career in Endurance since he is playing this season within Murphy Prototypes with whom he is fighting in particular for the title in ELMS. The former HRT driver also shares the same age as his future teammate with 30 years on the clock. “The support from the directors of the structure in this program is very encouraging. It’s a real honor to be part of the only Indian team in this Championship. It will be nice to see Bruno again. He's one of my close friends in the competitive world. We respect each other and this will have an impact on the development of the team. The urban races will offer quite a spectacle and the level of the teams and crews promise exciting events. »

This is the third crew made official in Formula E out of the ten planned for the first season.
