Formula E – Prost: “Do something different”

Alain Prost is following with interest the preparation for the first season of Formula E which will begin on September 13 in Beijing. The four-time world champion F1 decided to join forces with Jean-Paul Driot by occupying the head of the e.dams stable. The Professor is especially awaiting the arrival of engine manufacturers who will be able to showcase all their knowledge of electrical technology from the second season. “The manufacturers are waiting to know the final points of the regulations, but it will be a good platform for them if everything goes well”, assures the former pilot McLaren.

But Ayrton Senna's legendary rival is especially waiting to see the results of this new type of race which will offer an unusual setting by competing only on urban circuits. “We need to do something different. F1 and other disciplines run on classic circuits. We cannot attract the same audience and I think that the presence of electric cars in the city center was the best solution. It's not enough to drive a car, you also have to think about saving energy, for example. It's a new chapter in motorsport (also started in F1 and in WEC). We are very optimistic with battery technology for the next few years as it will get better and better. It will also be an opportunity to show people that this technology is progressing very quickly. »
