Oscar piastri (Prema) scored the fifth consecutive pole of his season this Friday in Abu Dhabi. The championship leader took the opportunity to pocket the four points that go with it and could be titled on Saturday morning at the end of race 1. The Australian beat his compatriot Jack Doohan (MP Motorsport), the impressive beginner who discovered category in Jeddah next weekend, and who finished second in the session.

Promoted to F1 in Alfa Romeo in 2022, Guanyu-Zhou (UNI-Virtuosi) finished 3rd, ahead of Robert Shwartzman (Prema), who is now 55,5 points ahead of leader Oscar Piastri. After his extremely violent crash in Jeddah with the Brazilian Enzo Fittipaldi (Charouz), Theo Pourchaire (ART Grand Prix) was back and set the sixth time. His compatriot Clément Novalak (MP Motorsport) had more difficulties, and finished in the second half of the table (20th, +1″6).

Daruvala on pole for Race 1

The fight for pole was extremely competitive. If Piastri had a non-negligible advantage of 0″371 on the first set of tires, Guanyu Zhou then Jack Doohan temporarily stole the reference mark, before the Aussie, who therefore fell one length short of the record for consecutive poles established by Leclerc in 2017 (6), does not repeat it on his last flying lap.

Scheduled for Saturday morning at 9:20 a.m., race 1 will see the duo Carlin Daruvala-Ticktum start on the front row, with the advantage of pole for the Indian, thanks to the reversed grid. A race in which Liam Lawson (Hitech) and Felipe Drugovich (UNI-Virtuosi) will have a chance to play.
