- Despite a 9e position on the grid due to the reversed Top 10, Oliver Bearman (Prema) won his first victory in F2, he who is discovering the category this year.
- In the streets of Baku, this Sprint Race turned into carnage. After an eventful start which cost Zane Maloney (Carlin) and “poleman” Richard Verschoor (VAR) dearly, it was Dennis Hauger (MP Motorsport) who came out on top by taking control as he left. 6e on the grid.
- The Norwegian then had a very clean race, resisting Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix) and his DRS behind him for many laps. Everything led to believe that the protégé of Red Bull headed straight towards triumph. But the relaunch of the 19e turned everything upside down.
- His mistake at the first corner during the restart caused chaos behind. Dennis Hauger hit the wall, Victor Martins behind him too, Jehan Daruvala (MP Motorsport) was unable to avoid the Habs while Theo Pourchaire (ART Grand Prix), Arthur Leclerc (DAMS) and Jack Doohan (Virtuosi) were trapped in the middle of the peloton.
- A carnage which paid the price for Oliver Bearman, second at the time of the restart, who took the opportunity to get rid of his teammate Frederik Vesti to take 1st place. The Sprint Race then ended under Safety Car regime and the Briton was able to celebrate for the first time in his F2 career. With pole position this Sunday, he can claim a double!
- Note that only 11 cars out of the 22 took the checkered flag
