Dennis Hauger had a relatively calm Saturday in Monaco. Leading from the first to the last lap of this Sprint Race, the Norwegian scored his first success in F2, giving Prema its first victory of the year.

This Sprint Race couldn't have started better for Dennis Hauger, 2e on the grid. Well helped by the setting of poleman Jake Hughes (VAR), the champion of F3 in title took the lead at Sainte Dévote in front of his teammate Jehan Daruvala. Then began the usual routine of races contested in the Principality.

Easily installed in the lead and sheltered from his partner, Dennis Hauger set his own pace throughout the race. If he had to restart it after the intervention of the Safety Car at 10e turn (Clément Novalak in the wall at Rascasse after contact with Ayumu Iwasa), the Norwegian did not break down when going around again. Alone at the front of the peloton and with the track clear in front of him, the member of the Red Bull Junior Team only had to complete its final laps to cross the finish line with more than 5 seconds ahead of Jehan Daruvala and Marcus Armstrong (Hitech GP).

Pourchaire grabs points, Drugovich gives up

If he had planned not to tempt the devil during this Sprint Race at the risk of losing big, Theo Pourchaire (ART Grand Prix) did not miss the few chances that presented themselves to him. Ascended 7e at the start after the setbacks of Jake Hughes, the Habs dove inside Mirabeau Haute to gain the upper hand over Jack Doohan (Virtuosi) and thus pass 6e.

Blocked thereafter and unable to try to overtake Jüri Vips, Théo Pourchaire tried to take the point for the fastest lap in the race but Jack Doohan stole it from him on the last loop. The Grassois, however, pocketed 3 points which could be important at the end of the season since the leader of the championship Felipe Drugovich (MP Motorsport) retired after a strange strategy by switching to wet tires at the start of the race and a succession of time penalties. The two men are now separated by 25 units before the Main Race on Sunday (9:50 a.m.).
