Second pole in a row for Oscar Piastri

Almost two months have passed since the last meeting of Formula 2 at Silverstone, but nothing has really changed. Oscar piastri, despite his rookie status, is still the fastest man in the F1 lobby. Named among the potential outsiders to the last seat still available for the 2022 season Formula 1 in Alfa Romeo, the Australian was clearly not disturbed by the “people say”. On the contrary. Already the fastest on the first set of tires, the driver of theAlpine Academy also imposed its law at the end of the session, when it really counts.

While he was dispossessed in quick succession from the top position by Liam Lawson (Hitech) then by Jehan Daruvala (Carlin) in the space of a few seconds, the Aussie went for an absolute best sector 3 to pocket his second pole of the season. An absolutely decisive performance in the title race, since he will have his runner-up in the championship, the Chinese Guanyu-Zhou (UNI-Virtuosi), 3rd in the session, just behind him on Sunday in the main race. Jehan Daruvala (Carlin) came in second.

For its part, Theo Pourchaire (ART Grand Prix) failed by three tenths in 7th position but still largely dominated his teammate Christian Lundgaard. The Habs will start just ahead of Daniel Ticktum (Carlin), fastest in the free practice session on Friday morning. The Frenchman will in any case have the opportunity to start race 1 on the second row thanks to the reverse grid. He will therefore start alongside the Briton, behind Jüri Vips (Hitech) and the one who will start on pole, David Beckmann (Campos). New disappointment, however, regarding Robert Shwartzman (Prema). While his teammate is on pole, the Russian could not do better than 12th and will have to do some big races to avoid losing his third place in the championship.
