It is no longer a question of knowing if Felipe Drugovich (MP Motorsport) will be crowned champion or not but rather of knowing when he will be. It must be said that with 69 points ahead with two rounds (Monza and Abu Dhabi) before the final whistle, the Brazilian almost has both hands on the trophy and will have his first match point in Monza in the confrontation against Theo Pourchaire (ART Grand Prix).

Indeed, Felipe Drugovich will have for the first time the possibility of being mathematically crowned F2 for his 3e season in the category, its 2e under the colors of MP Motorsport. To do this, various operations are available to Auriverde to leave Italy with the champion's trophy next Sunday.

The possibilities for Drugovich to be champion at Monza

  • In F2, it is possible to score up to 39 points per round (25 for winning the Main Race, 10 for victory in the Sprint Race, 2 for pole position and 1 point for each best lap in the race). As we speak, Felipe Drugovich is 69 lengths ahead of Théo Pourchaire. He just needs to not lose more than 29 on the Frenchman over the weekend to no longer be caught afterwards. If the Grassois were to take 30 points or more from him, this would reduce the Brazilian's advantage to 39 points, or less, and the Habs would thus maintain their chances of also being crowned in Abu Dhabi next November.
  • During the weekend, Felipe Drugovich can also be crowned in the Sprint Race. For this, Auriverde will have to win, thus pocketing the 10 points of victory and the title of champion in the process. In case of pole position, synonymous with 2 units, a 2e place in the Sprint Race would then be enough for him to be titled. Otherwise, he will have to wait until Sunday to hope to succeed Oscar piastri in the F2 prize list.

Barring a nightmare weekend at Monza, which he hasn't experienced since the start of the season, Felipe Drugovich will become the first Brazilian since Bruno Junqueira in Formula 3000 in 2000 to be crowned in the antechamber of the F1.
