And the last winner of the 2022 season of F2 is… Ayumu Iwasa. On cloud nine throughout the weekend, the DAMS driver concluded this final round of the year in the best possible way.

After his best time in free practice and his pole position on Friday, Ayumu Iwasa had a very solid final race. Without the slightest problem after his first stint on soft tires, the Japanese had to struggle in the second and especially in the last laps.

If the threat of Jack Doohan (Virtuosi) was ruled out, Ayumu Iwasa worked in the last 5 laps to keep Felipe Drugovich (MP Motorsport) behind him. Under the threat of the Brazilian, the Nippon brought out his strongest defense to resist the Auriverde who tried his luck until the last lap. Luckily, Ayumu Iwasa retained his property, thus signing his 2e victory of the season, after that at Castelle last July, already in the Main Race. Winner of the Sprint the day before, Liam Lawson (Carlin) completes the podium.

Sargeant on the F1 grid in 2023

He was undoubtedly the driver who played the biggest role this weekend. With tenure in F1 on the side of Williams at the end of the meeting, Logan sargeant had to validate his Super License in Abu Dhabi. For that, a Top 6 in the championship was enough for him. It's done ! Although he may have been afraid at certain times, the American worked hard to secure a 5th place in this Main Race on Sunday. A result which allows him to finish in 4th place in the championship and above all to ensure his place in the big circus next year.

On the side of Theo Pourchaire (ART Grand Prix), the old demons of the past reappeared this Sunday. After Bahrain, Saudi Arabia or more recently Belgium, the Habs have once again been the victim of faulty mechanics. So in the running for 4th place and possibly the podium, the vice-champion of the 2022 season had to resolve to abandon, his 4th this year for this reason. This did the business of MP Motorsport who won the Teams title after the French team's zero points.
