This is unfortunately the striking image of this weekend of the F2 on the Jeddah route. Third on the grid and good position to score a podium, Theo Pourchaire (ART Grand Prix) stalled at the start and was hit head-on by Enzo Fittipaldi (Charouz), logically launched at full speed after the lights went out.
The race was immediately neutralized, the Frenchman and the Brazilian were able to be extracted from their cars. After a moment of uncertainty, the first, rather reassuring news reached us from Jeddah through the race management. She announced that Théo Pourchaire and Enzo Fittipaldi were taken care of by local medical teams.
« The pilots were immediately attended to by emergency and medical teams, indicates the FIA. The pilots were conscious and were extracted by medical teams. Both were transferred by ambulance and helicopter to hospital."
The race then resumed before being definitively canceled after a new red flag shortly after the new start.
