First pole in Formula 2 for Jüri Vips at Imola

Between the splashes of water on the track, the absence or almost no driving in free practice and night falling in Emilia Romagna, the drivers of Formula 2 were frankly not spared this Saturday evening on the Imola track. But we still had to shine in qualifying and in this little game, no one was able to bother Jüri Vips (Hitech). Contested on wet tires on a drying track, the session saw several drivers succeed one another at the top of the timesheet, before the Estonian established the final mark in 1'40"221. 

The correct operation is complete for the pilot Red Bull which monopolizes 4th in the championship, since the first three in the ranking all finished in the second half of the table: Felipe Drugovich (12th), Liam Lawson (14th) and Richard Verschoor (19th). The surprise of the day is almost no longer one as he has had a promising start to the season, but Ayumu Iwasa qualified in second position with DAMS, just ahead of Jack Doohan (UNI-Virtuosi) who is definitely very comfortable in qualification. 

Having struggled since the start of the year for his big debut in Formula 2, Dennis Hauger (Prema) scored a very encouraging top 5 which will do him a lot of good. For his part, the French Theo Pourchaire limited the damage with 7th place on the grid in the main race. But the native of Grasse will start in 4th position this Saturday in the sprint race, behind Jehan Daruvala (Prema), Marcus Armstrong (Hitech) and the reverse grid poleman Logan sargeant (Pug). Clément Novalak (MP Motorsport) set the 13th time, but he got much closer to his Brazilian teammate.
