At Imola, few people can boast of having seen the overtaking which allowed Théo Pourchaire to win. Only the fans present on site were able to enjoy the spectacle on the 19th lap of the Main Race in Formula 2. And for good reason, the Frenchman's late braking on Ralph Boschung was not broadcast. A miss that the native of Grasse preferred to take with a smile: “ I'm disappointed ! Because it was a good pass. I had DRS and Ralph had just lost it with Roy (Nissany.Ed.) at the same time »

To get on the first step of the podium, the action took place on the 19th lap of the Main Race. Theo Pourchaire who started in 7th place fell on the Campos Racing driver, Ralph Boschung. “ I had the good opportunity to overtake him, I was quite far away honestly. I just felt it was the right time to brake late and it was,” comments the ART Grand Prix driver. The safety car triggered by Roy Nissany's exit at the entrance to the pit lane then allowed the Frenchman to secure first place behind Enzo Fittipaldi and Ralph Boschung.

First place in the race and in the Championship

Théo Pourchaire was keen to highlight Ralph Boschung's good reflex after the race. “ He did a good job of not moving while braking or holding on to anything late. » The Swiss, a good loser, confirms the Frenchman's words. “ Once he was in range, I didn't bother defending because that would have led to a collision. He was so far away, I was on the line and I was expecting to see him land inside. It was very impressive. »

After a zero score in Saudi Arabia, Théo Pourchaire went to Imola to regain his confidence. With the 25 points gleaned in Italy, the tricolor takes the lead in the Championship ahead of Felipe Drugovich.
