The Marseillaise resonates within the Hungaroring! Part 4e and author of an excellent start to the race as well as a very good stop, Theo Pourchaire (ART Grand Prix) offered its 3e victory of the season by winning the Main Race in Hungary this Sunday, achieving an excellent performance in the championship.

From the outset, Théo Pourchaire warned that he had come to fight for victory and nothing else on the track where he rode for the first time in F1 one year ago. Very well off to a good start when the lights went out, the Grassois immediately stood out by passing Felipe Drugovich (MP Motorsport) and Ayumu Iwasa (DAMS) at the first corner. In ambush behind leader Marcus Armstrong (Hitech GP), the Habs were patient during the first stint on soft tires, preferring to wait for the switch to mediums to attack.

Helped by the poor stop of Marcus Armstrong who lost two places in the pit lane, Théo Pourchaire found himself virtually in the lead while waiting for the rest of the peloton to make their pit-stop. A time under pressure from Enzo Fittipladi (Charouz), who started 9th and quickly moved up to the leading group, the ART Grand Prix driver knew how to manage the moment to finally let go of the Brazilian who was unable to counter the pace of his rival .

The perfect operation for Pourchaire

Winner for the first time since Imola last April ahead of Enzo Fittipaldi and Ayumu Iwasa, Théo Pourchaire completed a perfect operation this Sunday in Hungary. Relegated to 44 points behind leader Felipe Drugovich before the start of this Main Race, the Frenchman took advantage of his counterpart's setbacks to make up a large part of his deficit in the championship.

Although he once thought he was on the podium, Felipe Drugovich ultimately had to settle for only 9th position. In difficulty with his medium rubber, which was very worn at the end of the race, the Brazilian was unable to do anything in the final laps against the drivers on fresh soft tires. Almost running on eggshells, the Auriverde did everything to survive in the final moments of the race but was powerless against Liam Lawson (Carlin) or Richard Verschoor (Trident) who had no trouble overtaking him. thus letting big points slip away in the championship.

Felipe Drugovich almost expelled from the Top 10, Théo Pourchaire has considerably reduced his gap with the leader. If he was 44 points behind this Sunday morning, here he is 21 lengths behind the MP Motorsport driver with 4 rounds remaining. So nothing is decided in this 2022 season!
