Those are Formula 2 “new look” which filed down the Catalan bitumen on Tuesday, at the opening of the 2024 season. On the Barcelona circuit, the teams were invited to a first shakodown of the new Dallara F2 2024 which will be introduced from this year, with aerodynamics and a revised design in order to get closer to the Formula 1 modern.
Only one car per team was allowed, and the 20 drivers confirmed for the 2024 season were able to complete a few kilometers aboard this new car. The main objectives of this shakedown were reliability and the teams learning how the new car works, with six hours of running during the day. In total, the teams completed 649 laps, for a total of 3018 kilometers covered throughout the day.
Our first, second, third, fourth… and 649th laps in the new 2024 F2 car are in the bag! 🎒

Martins: F2 2024 “ has not changed much compared to 2023 »
On the driver side, the feeling of this 2024 version single-seater does not differ that much from the old generation, used between 2018 and 2023. “The first goal of this shakedown was to have a clean, trouble-free session, and that's what we did, said Victor Martins, ART Grand Prix driver. We had a good running plan to get a first impression of how the car handles in the corners and how it handles. It was really nice to get back behind the wheel! The first impression of the car is that it hasn't changed much compared to last year, so I will be able to use my experience for the new season. (…) We are in a good position before pre-season testing. We have data to analyze and we will continue our development. We will continue to work with the team. I'm ready ! »
Pierre-Alain Michot, technical director of FIA Formula 2, is delighted with a successful first test for the 2 F2024. “We are quite satisfied with the results obtained today. The teams were able to cover a lot of kilometers, which is a good first step. (….) There are still a few things to adjust before the first official test session, but that's normal. With eleven teams, there are eleven different ways of working. This allows us to learn even more about this car. We have already been able to correct some things for the afternoon session, but there are still some adjustments to make before the first race of the season, but we are not far from what we need. »
