Formula E – Andretti joins Franck Montagny

Like Jacques Villeneuve, who returned to service between the Indy 500 and the World RX, Franck Montagny sees his 2014 calendar getting busy. The former Super Aguri driver in F1 will return to the ranks of the Andretti Autosport team for the new World Championship Formula E. This is the continuation of a beautiful story.

The collaboration between Montagny and Andretti began in 2008 in Grand-Am. The Frenchman was then riding the Acura ARX-01b. From then on, the two parties never lost sight of each other. In 2009, the native of Loire competed in the Sonoma race. And this year, Michael Andretti thought of the former pilot Peugeot en Endurance to ride in the first Indianapolis Grand Prix on May 10. An experiment prematurely interrupted after a collision with Martin Plowman.

“It is a great honor to race again with Andretti Autosport and Michael Andretti,
explains the Frenchman. I worked with the team in 2008 and 2009 and working together on this new electrical challenge will be exciting. I am convinced that this new fully electric technology will become a very important feature of our daily lives in the future, and this high-level racing competition will very quickly bring new technical developments, as Formula 1 has done through the past, for everyday cars. »

The team has not yet confirmed its second driver, who will be entered on September 13 in Beijing, China.
