Formula E – Eight manufacturers selected

For the inaugural season of the Formula E, the teams entered in this championship all use the same car Spark-Renault SRT_01E, which notably embeds an engine developed by McLaren. From the second season 2015-2016, eight manufacturers, namely ABT Sportsline, Andretti, Mahindra, Motomatica, NEXTEV TCR, Renault Sport, Venturi Automobiles and Virgin Racing Engineering, which have just been revealed by the FIA, will be able to begin the development of their own solutions in the following areas: motor, gearbox, inverter and cooling system.

The other components of the single-seater will remain the same as those currently used for the moment, with the evolution of the batteries being the next step in the single-seater development process. “One of our objectives from the beginning was to promote technological competition, but we cannot do this as organizers of the championship, we need actors who join us to develop technologies to fight against one against each other in races. » specifies Alejandro Agag, general manager of Formula E Holdings.

The next round of the inaugural Formula E championship will take place on March 14 in Miami, Florida.
