Formula E – Jean-Paul Driot: “A very humble approach”

Based on city races with electric single-seaters developed in collaboration with several big names in world motorsport (Williams, Renault, Dallara?), the World Championship of Formula E will be one of the new challenges for the French team DAMS in 2014, entered under the name e.dams.

“It’s a real challenge for us and we have a very humble approach, explains the boss of the DAMS team Jean-Paul Driot who joined forces with Alain Prost in this adventure. Everyone in this championship will be starting from zero. It's a completely different way of running and we have to deal with that. We must first adapt to a new racing car with innovative technical solutions such as electric propulsion. There car looks very promising. It has already managed to cover more than 2500 km without major problems, which is already a feat for such an innovative vehicle. It will be delivered to us in May and we are really looking forward to testing it. »

The Frenchman has not yet heard about the future drivers who will compete under the colors of e.dams. “We are not focused on French drivers in particular. We are especially looking for fast, experienced people with a good technical background to help the team understand the car. »

Among the drivers who have joined the fold of Formula E (via the Driver's Club), we find among the French, Sébastien Bourdais, Nicolas Minassian, Franck Montagny and Adrien Tambay. The first round will take place around the Beijing Olympic Stadium on September 13.
