The second season of the Formula e, which will begin on October 24 in Beijing, China, will be marked by novelty, both technically and in terms of sporting regulations. In addition to the new powertrains developed internally by several teams, the sporting rules have already undergone several changes, with a new qualifications system, limited driver changes, or the Fan Boost prolonged in the race.
This Wednesday, it’s the system of Full Course Yellow, already present in WEC or in Blancpain GT Series, which was made official for 2015-2016. Pilots must respect under this regime a speed of 50 km/h, maintain the gap with the previous car, and move in a single file. The pitlane will be open under FCY, but the speed will still be limited to 50 km/h.
Otherwise, penalties will be reviewed for this second campaign. Four levels of sanctions will be available to race stewards:
A) A penalty of five seconds, observed in the pitlane before starting the driver change, or added to the race time if the sanction is imposed after the stop.
B) A ten-second penalty, with the same mode of application as the five-second penalty.
C) A drive-through
D) A ten-second stop & go.
