Formula e – No additional power in season 3

The single-seaters of Formula e will retain a maximum available power of 200kW in 2016-2017. This is the decision of the organizers of the series in view of the third season of the championship.

This increase had once been imagined for 2016-2017 but “After an in-depth analysis of the performance of the batteries and the cost of developing this technology, a more gradual power increase phase was decided. » said the statement released by officials. The 220kW limit will be reached in season 4 before the 250kW now planned for season 5.

However, some technical changes will occur in 2016-2017, such as the reduction in the mass of the single-seaters from 888 to 880 kg and the increase to 150kW (compared to 100kW currently) of power regeneration during braking. The next season will also see the arrival of Jaguar as a new constructor, as well as promoting Dragon Racing to this status.
