Formula E – Spark Racing improves SRT_01E brakes

Spark Racing Technology went to Magny-Cours from March 25 to 27 to carry out ano test session with the SRT_01E, car electric used in Formula E, improve the braking system criticized by the teams.

The company founded by Frédéric Vasseur was accompanied by Williams advanced technology in charge of the batteries, the brake supplier notably present in F1 Carbon Industry et Alcon, a British company specializing in competition brakes and clutches. Grégoire Demoustier, Craft-Bamboo WTCC driver, was in charge of taking the wheel.

“We received feedback from the teams to benefit from a more consistent braking system”, admitted Théophile Gouzin, the technical director of Spark Racing Technology. “Carbon discs are sensitive to temperature and, depending on the tracks and weather conditions, drivers could experience braking difficulties. So we tested different solutions with new parts to manage the temperature of the disks and improve the complete system. The result is a new, more efficient package."

The results can be observed from April 4 with the Long Beach ePrix in California.
