The German team ABT Sportsline left its mark on the young history of Formula E with 47 podiums and 1 points scored. First independent in 380, then associated with Audi in 2014, ABT disappeared from circulation when the German manufacturer withdrew at the end of the 2017 FE season.

However, the structure managed by Hans-Jürgen Abt is preparing to make its return for the 2023 campaign with two new Gen3 single-seaters. This time, Abt will race in its own name as a private team. The powertrain supplier will be communicated at a later date.

“After internal approval, we discussed with our current and potential partners, explains Hans-Jürgen Abt. The objective is to bring a solid team back into the championship. We have always kept in touch with the FIA and Formula E, and we have received strong support from these entities. »

As for the choice of drivers, it is also still kept secret. “We will probably start as underdogs unlike previous years with the factory team. This is why it is important to have fast and smart drivers. »
