On April 24, the Formula E will have the pleasure of welcoming not only the reigning Formula 3 champion Victor Martins, but also the reigning champion of the Formula 2 Felipe Drugovich. The Brazilian, current reserve driver at Aston Martin en F1, will participate in the Rookie Test organized by the electric championship the day after the Berlin E-Prix (Germany). The 22-year-old driver will drive the Maserati MSG, and will be accompanied by Australian Hugh Barter, current driver in F3 at Campos Racing.

Felipe Drugovich, who took part in Formula 1 winter testing replacing Lance stroll in February, will therefore discover a new discipline, he whose plans for the months and years to come remain unclear. This test could then foreshadow a commitment to Formula E in the seasons to come, like what Maximilian Günther experienced. The German first spent one day in the Rookie Test before being hired by Dragon in 2017.

Drugovich honored to drive for Maserati

“I can’t wait to experience the Maserati Gen3 for the first time in Berlin, rejoiced Felipe Drugovich. Formula E is a category that has always fascinated me, and it will be interesting to experience the differences of a fully electric car compared to the single-seaters I have driven in recent seasons. Knowing that I will play an active role in the development of such an iconic brand, in its first season back in the world motorsport championship, is a huge honor. I am very enthusiastic. »

A enthusiasm shared by James Rossiter, director of the Maserati team. “We are delighted to welcome Felipe [Drugovich] and Hugh [Barter] to the team for our Rookie Test in Berlin. This is an opportunity for the next generation of drivers to experience electric motorsport for the first time. With Felipe and Hugh we will have a team of young and experienced drivers. We can't wait for them to hit the track in the Gen3 car in Berlin. »
