Edoardo Mortara wins the Berlin ePrix ahead of Jean-Éric Vergne

For the first race of the weekend in Berlin, Edoardo Mortara (Venturi) managed to convert his pole position into victory. The Swiss won on the tarmac at Tempelhof airport, ending his bad series of two retirements in a row in the best possible way. This Saturday, he was indeed the fastest on the track and he managed to control the race and temper the attacks of Jean-Éric Vergne (DS Techeetah) and Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes) to find the path to success, almost 4 months after his success in Diriyah.

The Swiss is ahead of Jean-Éric Vergne who tried to overtake him in the last laps with the help of the additional power offered by Fan Boost and a Stoffel Vandoorne in very good shape. The Belgian indeed signs one of the most beautiful comebacks. Qualified in 8th position, he found himself in 12th place at the end of the first round. The Mercedes driver is not going to let himself be defeated and the use of the two mandatory attack modes in the race will allow him to quickly get back to the leading group and even worry the Venturi driver. Jean-Éric Vergne, for his part, extends his fine series to 1 podiums in a row and is still chasing his first victory of the season.

Alexander Sims, a real surprise in qualifying, had more difficulty during race 1 and finally finished 9th. Despite losing seven places, the Briton scored his first points of the season. Third in the drivers' standings, Mitch Evans (Jaguar) limits the damage with 4 positions gained and a 5th place at the finish. In the championship, Jean-Éric Vergne is now only 3 points behind Stoffel Vandoorne before the next race this Sunday, still in Berlin, but this time in the opposite direction.
