On the occasion of the last E-Prix organized in the Principality, and won by Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes), The Formula E took advantage of its weekend to formalize the arrival of a new race on its calendar in 2023, by mutual agreement with the Brazilian city of São Paulo. A new generation of car, for new E-Prix(es)?
It's not really a surprise, but Formula E has been looking to expand across the globe since its introduction in 2014. With the introduction of a new generation of single-seaters for next season, the arrival of a new (or several?) race is not surprising in itself. Especially since this is a real land of motorsport enthusiasts. All that remains is approval from the FIA World Motor Sport Council in June, and the deal is in the bag.
Welcome to Gen3.
