The Brazilian stay did not really suit Jean-Éric Vergne. Third in the championship when entering the São Paulo E-Prix, the Habs struggled to get into rhythm. In qualifying, the driver Peugeot en WEC was never able to place among the first 4 of his group to then fight for pole position.

Eliminated and relegated to 11e place on the starting grid, Jean-Éric Vergne managed a good comeback and even claimed victory for a while in the streets of the Paulista city. Finally, the Ile-de-France resident had to settle for number 5e place just ahead of his teammate and pole sitter, Stoffel Vandoorne, complaining in particular about the difficulty in handling his car.

« The day was difficult, qualifying wasn't great and then in the race I had a lot of trouble with the balance of the car, emphasized the DS Penske driver afterwards. We need to look into this. My car didn't handle very well, with oversteer everywhere. I couldn't really get out of the corners. She wasn't really suited to racing.

It was a struggle and I was just trying to hang on and give the team points, and that's what we did. It's not the result we wanted, but I'm happy to take these points and continue to advance in the championship. We're getting closer and closer to the lead, but we still have work to do."

In the championship, Jean-Éric Vergne loses his 3e place to the detriment of Nick Cassidy (Envision). Here it is 4e a small unit from the podium.
