Lucas Di Grassi finally stopped Jake Dennis from having the perfect weekend in London. The Brazilian driver managed to overtake the Briton with an alternative strategy on Attack Modes. Behind the two drivers, Stoffel Vandoorne finished 4th and moved a little further towards the world title while Mitch Evans and Jean-Éric Vergne were forced to retire. Edoardo Mortara must be satisfied with 13th place for his side.

At the start of the race, like Saturday, the first turns caused damage. In contact with Jean-Éric Vergne, Oliver Rowland saw the front of his car fly away. The Briton and the Habs had to end their races. With this retirement, the Frenchman has certainly said goodbye to the championship. Meanwhile, Mitch Evans was scraping many places until the safety car was deployed to clear debris from the track.

At the restart, Antonio Giovinazzi who was 3rd on the grid could do nothing against Nyck de Vries with its Attack Mode. The Italian also received a penalty for not having respected the racing pace during the safety car. In the lead, Jake Dennis copied his strategy with his Attack Mode from that of Lucas Di Grassi to keep the lead.
Outside of the top 10 on the starting grid, three title contenders continued their rise. After 15 minutes of racing, Mitch Evans took advantage of Antonio Giovinazzi's penalty to move up to 5th place while Stoffel Vandoorne was 7th and Edoardo Mortara 10th.

Vandoorne, one hand on the title

With the use of Attack Modes, Lucas Di Grassi regained the lead of the race ahead of Jake Dennis. But the Briton had to use two boosts to recover his position. Edoardo Mortara, for his part, followed up with a 5-second penalty followed by going off the track at the first turn. Like the Habs, the Swiss also lost big points in the championship.
Eight minutes from the end of the race, Jake Dennis came to collect his last Attack Mode, leaving the Brazilian in the lead. The safety car added three minutes to the clock, but it was too late for the Briton. Mitch Evans for his part had no choice but to shoot straight into turn 10. The New Zealander had no choice but to give up.

If Lucas Di Grassi is the winner of the day ahead of Jake Dennis, it is Stoffel Vandoorne who emerges as the big winner with his 4th place. The Belgian is more than ever in pole position to win the driver's title. The 3rd place of Nyck De Vries also allows Mercedes to also advance as the big favorite for the constructor's championship before the last double header in Seoul (August 13-14).
