The new era of Formula E begins this weekend in Mexico City (Mexico). At the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, the 22 drivers completed their first Free Practice session of the season at the wheel of the all-new Gen3s.

At the end of this half-hour driving session, it was Jean-Éric Vergne (DS PENSKE) who was the fastest. The Frenchman set the best time of the evening on Friday in 1:13.294. He beat NEOM's Jake Hughes by 0.092 seconds McLaren. René Rast, the Briton's teammate, made a mistake in the final moments of the session. The German damaged his left rear wheel and suspension under the eyes of Zak Brown, present in the garage for his team's first in the discipline.

The podium for this session was completed by the Brazilian Sérgio Sette Câmara. The NIO 333 Racing driver finished 0.438 seconds behind Vergne. Title holder and new teammate of the Frenchman at DS PENSKE, Stoffel Vandoorne took fifth position, 0.547 behind the Habs.
