The return of the Formula E in Europe is good for Mitch Evans (Jaguar). The eight-week break after the Mexico ePrix allowed him to spend some time in his native New Zealand and the 27-year-old returned to Rome (Italy) pumped up.

Starting from ninth place during the first double header ePrix in the Italian capital, Mitch Evans patiently moved up the hierarchy, until taking the lead of the events at the expense of poleman Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes) 11 minutes from the finish:

Mitch Evans records his third success in the electric discipline, his first since Mexico in February 2020. Even better, he exchanges his modest 17th place in the championship (before Rome) for a more flattering eighth position given his 4th place in 2021.

“The start of the season was complicated, with a lot of problems, recognizes the winner. The team did a good job and I hope it lasts until the end of the season. This circuit suits my driving style, but when you have a car like I had today, it helps a lot. »

Robin Frijns (Envision) started second, he finished in the same place, while having overtaken pole sitter Stoffel Vandoorne (3rd). For a time on the podium, the Frenchman Jean-Éric Vergne (DS Techeetah) was content with fourth position.

Edoardo Mortara (Venturi) preserves his advantage in the Drivers' championship but Stoffel the gaps are narrowing behind. Two teams still have to open their counter: NIO 333 and Dragon / Penske. Nissan e.dams, for its part, missed the points this Saturday with Sébastien Buemi 16th and a retirement due to an accident for Max Günther.
