The second race of the weekend Formula E in New York was won by pole sitter Antonio Felix da Costa.

Best time in qualifying for the second day in a row, Nick Cassidy (Envision Racing) finally had to leave pole position to Antonio Felix da Costa (DS Techeetah) after a penalty for the use of a fifth RESS radiator on the occasion of this 12th round of the season. Already demoted to last place, the New Zealander also had to perform an entry drive-through for not having been able to pay for the 30 places imposed on him by the race management.

Among leaders, Nyck de Vries (Mercedes-EQ), Alexander Sims (Mahindra Racing) and Antonio Felix da Costa were the first to recover their Eight Minute Attack mode, temporarily handing over control to Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes-EQ). Only Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing) took advantage of his power bonus to get rid of the reigning champion and move up to fourth place.

Vandoorne finally found the opening on Sims 20 minutes from time, while his teammate Nyck de Vries regained his fourth place from Evans. The latter returned to the attack, but was unable to take the corner correctly, even if he managed to stay on the track in fifth position. A rescue which allowed the New Zealand driver to stay in the race. In good form, Mitch Evans caught up and successively overtook Nyck de Vries and Alexander Sims for the podium.

Jean-Éric Vergne, decidedly unhappy this weekend, lost the point for tenth place in an accident in the last minute. Edoardo Mortara (ROKiT Venturi Racing), championship leader before this race, took the opportunity to get into the points. Antonio Felix da Costa took his first victory of the season ahead of Stoffel Vandoorne and Mitch Evans. The Belgian driver takes the lead in the championship.
