Blue, white and red at Nissan in 2023! For the transition to Gen3 in Formula E, the Japanese team will be represented by two French drivers. Sacha Fenestraz, current 2nd in the Super Formula championship in Japan, will participate in his first full season in the electric category. Norman Nato arrives from Jaguar, who already took part in the 2021 season with Venturi, and will wear the colors of the Yokohama brand in 2023.

Nissan will therefore completely change its line-up compared to 2022, which was made up of Sébastien Buemi and Maximilian Gunther. Tommaso Volpe, general manager of the Nissan Formula E team, was delighted with his line-up for 2023. “This is an important moment for the team as we enter the Gen3 era, and we are very excited to welcome Norman and Sacha on board. Season 9 will be our first season competing as a single team, following the acquisition of e.dams by Nissan earlier this year and the start of our partnership with Mclaren racing. (…) With Norman and Sacha, we have found two strong drivers to achieve our objective. »

Shared joy for the two new Nissan drivers

The two French drivers also showed their joy at their signing with the Japanese team. “I am very happy to make my return as a full-time driver in Formula E with Nissan,” said Norman Nato. The Gen3 era will be a new chapter for the championship, and I can't wait to prepare for testing and drive the car. »

For Sacha Fenestraz, after his exile in Japan, a new adventure presents itself. “It’s a dream come true. It will be a big step forward in my career, to reach a world championship for the first time and compete at such a high level against some of the best riders in the world. It will be a different challenge for me, as it will be my first season in a fully electric car. (…) I am very grateful to Nissan for this opportunity. I can't wait to get started and I will do everything to perform as well as possible. »
