They were formidable in free practice, they responded in qualifying and they flew running. THE Porsche of Pascal Wehrlein and André Lotterer were uncompromising in Mexico to score a double and relaunch themselves in the championship.

However, things did not start well for Porsche and in particular Pascal Wehrlein. With a wild Edoardo Mortara (Venturi) in his mirrors, the German handed over control of the race 10 minutes after the lights went out. The objective then seemed to be the podium for him and André Lotterer, who were quickly let go by the Swiss.

The matter became even more difficult when Jean-Éric Vergne (DS Techeetah) scolded the two Porsche men, relegating Pascal Wehrlein and André Lotterer to 3rd and 4th places. But here it is, in Formula E consumption should not be confused with haste, Edoardo Mortara can attest to this, as can Jean-Éric Vergne.

Excessive consumption in the first part of the race, the Swiss and the French saw their rivals from the Stuttgart manufacturer regain their right in quick succession with great ease. Once again at the front, Pascal Wehrlein and André Lotterer quickly gave each other some breathing room to experience a relatively calm end to the ePrix. Although they could have made life difficult with a two-man battle, the Germans, surely with team instructions behind them, decided to lock down positions to offer Porsche a nice double in the Mexican capital.

First podium for Vergne

Deprived of victory at the finish line in Mexico two years ago, Pascal Wehrlein takes his revenge this time to score his first success in Formula E. Once 2nd then falling to the back of the Top 5, Jean-Éric Vergne showed great intelligence at the end of the race. After having consumed a lot, the Habs regenerated their energy well to grab the last step of the podium in the Mexican capital, their first in this 2021/2022 season. The former pilot of Toro Rosso en F1 was, however, unable to challenge the Porsche drivers for the win and finished almost 10 seconds behind them.

Leader of the championship and long at the head of the race, Edoardo Mortara consoles himself with the 10 points for 5th place. An operation which allows him to keep the lead in the championship with 43 units, 6 more than his runner-up Nyck de Vries (Mercedes), 6th under the checkerboard. Victorious, Pascal Wehrlein took a leap forward and moved up to 3rd position. Author of a solid weekend, the Porsche driver is 13 lengths behind the leader.
