“A great chance” for Martins
Victor Martins, pilot of theAlpine Academy, was invited by Nissan for this Rookie Test thanks in particular to the alliance Renault-Nissan in the automotive sector. The 21-year-old Frenchman, renowned for his ability to quickly adapt to his mount, will discover a whole new world with Formula E.
“It’s a great chance for me to discover a Formula E car for the first time, rejoiced Victor Martins. I have participated in the simulator before and found it very interesting. There is a lot to learn and I have to use a different driving style. It’s a great opportunity to continue developing my skills in different cars, and I can’t wait to try. I will try to make the most of this test and learn as much as possible from the team and the time I will spend on the track. »
Tommaso Volpe, general manager and team director of the Nissan team, explained the choice to give this opportunity to the Ile-de-France resident. “Victor is a promising young driver and we are happy to use our relationships with theAlpine Academy and the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. It's great for the league to attract rising stars like him. He is making his F2 debut this year and is showing strong signs, so it was a natural choice for us to give him a chance behind the wheel of the Nissan. »
It remains to be seen what will happen to this Rookie Test for Victor Martins. The two buckets at Alpine en F1 being already occupied by Pierre Gasly et Esteban Ocon in 2024, the Frenchman could then spend a transition season in Formula E next year, in the event of a Formula 2 title.
