Gil de Ferran sells his stable

Double champion IndyCar (2002-2003), winner of the famous Indianapolis 500 (2003) and former Honda Sporting Director F1, Gil de Ferran set up his team in 2008 with the support of Acura to enter the Japanese prototype in American Le Mans Series. The following year, associated with simon pagenaud, the Brazilian became champion of the American series and hung up his driving helmet for good.

Finally, in 2010, De Ferran Motorsports associated with Jay Penske (Roger's son) and Steve Luczo, owner of an Indy Lights structure, debuted in IndyCar. Unfortunately, the adventure was short-lived. Gil de Ferran has just announced that he is closing his business. Despite its recent efforts to raise the necessary budgets to align a car for the emblematic Tony Kanaan in 2011, the Brazilian had to come to terms with the obvious.

« It's a real shame because we kept the entire team over the winter, did a lot of work in research and development and I'm sure that we had a good season ahead. We considered all possible scenarios. Only do half a season, only Indy500, only a few races at the end of the season... But nothing could come to fruition he concluded.
