Giuliano Alesi arrives in F2 with Trident

There will be a new “Son of…” on the starting grid of the Formula 2 in 2019. Besides Mick Schumacher, Giuliano Alesi will be one of the beginners to watch closely in the access formula to the Formula 1.

The son of Jean Alesi will compete on behalf of Trident, as was the case during the previous three years in the GP3 Series. “It will be a new discipline, a new adventure, enthuses the 19-year-old Frenchman. Last season did not go as planned (7th with a success) but I’m looking forward to the 2019 campaign.”

The resident of the Ferrari Driver Academy will have to adapt to a new car, the Dallara of F2. “The engine is radically different (620 horsepower versus 400 for the GP3) and with the turbo you have to anticipate certain things, which is not the case with atmospheric units. »

The Avignonnais was at least able to get behind the wheel of his future machine during post-season testing in Abu Dhabi. “I was able to achieve good times and record the sixth time during the last session. It was my very first experience with an F2, so I couldn't align all the sectors together », he says.
