GP2-C2: Stoffel Vandoorne wins the title in Sochi

Stoffel vandoorne (ART GP) secured the title at two meetings at the end of the season by taking fourth place in Race 2 in Sochi, won by Richie Stananway (GP Status). The resident of McLaren Young Driver Program leaves Russia 108 points ahead of Alexander Red (Racing Engineering) who had won Race 1 but who could only take sixth place this Sunday.

While Haryanto River (Campos Racing) seemed to have taken the lead of the race, the Indonesian had to give back first place to Richie Stanaway following the intervention of the safety car due to the exit of the track Johnny Cecotto (Trident) at turn 3. Raffaele marciello (Trident) completed the podium while maintaining the advantage over the new champion.

Pierre Gasly (Dams) completes the top five, but the driver of Red Bull Junior Team is under investigation for overtaking under safety car. Arthur Pic (Campos Racing), reverse grid polesitter, finished eighth. Norman Born (Arden International) completes the top ten. Nathanaël Berthon (Lazarus) is 19th.
